IT Project Manager
Sample Resume & ATS Keywords
IT project management is one of the most certification-filtered searches in recruiting: Boolean strings routinely AND a title with "PMP" or "PRINCE2". Placement beats frequency — a keyword in your skills block or the first ten words of a bullet outscores the same term buried lower. And in 2026, "hybrid" delivery is a search term in its own right. Here's what that looks like on the page.
All sample resume content on this page is original and illustrative — fictional candidates, realistic numbers. Use it as a pattern, not a template to copy verbatim.

IT Project Manager resume formatting: do this, not that
Do
- Write certifications once in full and once short — "Project Management Professional (PMP)" and "PMP" — Boolean filters type the acronym, some ATS screens hold the full name.
- Carry the regionally right credential prominently: PMP for US/Canada searches, PRINCE2 for UK/Ireland/EU.
- Name delivery types: ERP implementation, cloud migration, system integration — not generic "IT projects".
- Quantify budget, programme size, team size (direct and matrixed), and on-time/on-budget rates.
- Include "hybrid" alongside Agile/Scrum/Waterfall where it's true — it's now searched directly.
Don't
- Don't mix UK "programme" and US "program" in one document — pick the market's spelling or you can miss the recruiter's phrase search.
- Don't list methodology buzzwords you can't map to a real project.
- Don't leave budget figures off — "managed budgets" without a number reads as junior.
- Don't bury governance vocabulary (RAID, stage gates, change control) — recruiters search these nouns.
- Don't claim AI-in-PM experience without a concrete outcome like hours saved or forecast accuracy.
